Brothers Among Wera

The Stockholm-based band evolved from a shared love of folk music. The group is led by guitarist/banjo player and writer Linus Hasselberg who assembled close friends and musicians to record a couple of living room sessions, among others vocalist Wera Westholm. The five-piece band has performed frequently around Sweden since 2013.

The band started to play in 2012 and debuted in 2013 with the single ”Waltz”. The critically acclaimed single was followed by the EP ”BAW” which led to a summer tour in 2014 with concerts at, among others, Peace & Love and Lundakarnevalen. After three sold-out concerts in Stockholm during 2014 the band released the Single ”Mammoth” during the spring of 2015 and afterwards signed with Carl-Marcus Gidlöf from Despotz records. In November 2015 Brothers Among Wera released a campaign against bullfighting together with Djurens Rätt (Sweden’s largest animal rights org.), ICEA (Label) and Mars Music (Publisher). BAW will release their first full-length album during the spring of 2016. With components from mainly Folk, Rock and Pop the group has managed to create a colorful yet emotional sound and an impressive live peformance.

Said about Brothers Among Wera:

”Built around Wera Westholm’s quite exquisite voice – which despite her Swedish heritage possesses an almost quintessentially English quality – the song Mammoth’s huge, organic melody embraces a real sense of wide open spaces and what it must surely be like to groove with nature”…”On this evidence alone, quite why Brothers Among Wera remain unsigned is one of life’s mysteries.”

”I have been waiting for this EP for a while now! After stumbling upon the glorious ‘Waltz’ last year as a stand out track amidst the flood of emails we receive, I’ve been following them closely”... ”I still love these Swedish beauties as much as I did on my first post on ‘Waltz,’ however of notable addition to my notes is how much I love how much my friends love Brothers Among Wera”... ”The perfect combination of sentiment and celebration, of folk and friendship”... ”One day, when The Vault’s budget is large enough, I promise you we will fly these Swedish beauties out for a backyard festival”
